PatricPatrick McCreight of team Brew-B-Q wins first place in the beef brisket category at the 23rd Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue.

Patrick McCreight of Round Lake, IL purchased a Meat Monster from Peoria Cookers in June of 2011. Pat had been a serious bbq competitor for over 4 years and while he had been successful, he had never won a grand championship. This all changed for Pat after he started cooking on his Meat Monster. During his first three competitions using the Meat Monster, he won Grand Champion in all three competitions. Later that year he won 1st place in beef brisket at the 23rd Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, TN. This was the first time he has competed at “The Jack” and winning the three Grand Champions earlier had qualified him to participate in this elite invitational only contest.st of the Meat Monster is the versatility. He stated that he used to use at least two, and sometimes three cookers for competitions were as now he uses only the Meat Monster. “By placing the food items in different areas of the Meat Monster I am able to actually cook at different temperatures simultaneously” says Pat. “I have heard from other competitors that they went from several cookers to just the Meat Monster so I made up my mind to commit to cooking everything on the Meat Monster and without any other cookers and the results have been fantastic.”

Patrick describes the process as starting with a 12-14lb whole brisket. He injects it with a beef broth containing several different seasonings. He then rubs it with pepper, garlic, and little chili pepper and then cooks at a low temp for about 6 hours. He then wraps the brisket in foil and then cooks it for another 2 hours for approximately 300 degrees.

Pat’s team, Brew B-Q, consists of Patrick McCreight and Dan Peters, both who are experienced barbeque cookers. “Many teams will cook 30-40 times a year, which is crazy; I have twin 4 year old boys so this would be too much for me. However, we have met a lot of really good people and have some really good experiences competing and look forward to continuing next season, “says McCreight.
